Russian dancer, and choreographer responsible for bringing knowledge of Russian ballet to the West, Sergeev was with the Mariinsky Theatre (1894-1918) as soloist, stage manager, and régisseur. In the West, he revived ballets from the Mariinsky repertoire using the choreographic notations he had brought with him.
